Pre-Enrollment for Full-Day Transitional Kindergarten and Full-Day Kindergarten Begins February 22

Pre-enrollment for Fall 2017/18 full-day transitional kindergarten and full-day kindergarten classes in the Garden Grove Unified School District begins Wednesday, February 22. Parents should pre-enroll online as early as possible at https://enroll.ggusd.us and contact their child’s home school for further assistance. All GGUSD elementary school offices will be closed throughout the summer and will resume enrollment when the offices reopen in the fall.

Pacifica High School Student Delivers Winning Speech in Washington D.C.

Pacifica High School senior Megan McCall’s inspiring speech, which encourages students to self-advocate for academic financial aid, was selected among the winning speeches as part of the American Soapbox Initiative. She was selected to represent Orange County at the Mikva Youth Summit in Washington, D.C. along with other soapbox speech winners from across the country.

Garden Grove Unified School District’s Doig Intermediate School and Santiago High School were officially re-validated as AVID (Advanced Via Individual Determination) National Demonstration Schools last week. Only 125 schools across the nation and a select few in Orange County earn the prestigious designation which signifies exemplary school-wide implementation of AVID’s proven college readiness systems and strategies.

Garden Grove High School is one of only 1,000 schools worldwide that has been selected to implement the College Board’s AP CapstoneTM program in the fall of 2017. Garden Grove Unified School District Expands Scholarship Program for Students

The Simon Family Foundation is expanding the number of college scholarships it will provide to students at Garden Grove Unified School District (GGUSD) this year. Sophomores at Garden Grove High School will now have an opportunity to become Simon Scholars and earn one of eight new scholarships being offered as part of the expansion. The program already provides eight scholarships to students at each of the participating schools, including Los Amigos and Rancho Alamitos high schools.

GGUSD Board of Education Recognizes Coaches and Athletes of Character

During its January 17 meeting, the Garden Grove Unified School District (GGUSD) Board of Education recognized Athletes and Coaches of Character from each of the district’s seven comprehensive high schools. The coaches and student athletes represent a wide variety of sports and help develop and enrich GGUSD athletic programs by modeling respect, teamwork, and a winning attitude.

Garden Grove Unified School District Hosts Career Fair for Students and Parents

Garden Grove Unified School District (GGUSD) students and their parents are invited to the district’s annual Career Fair on Monday, January 23, from 5:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., in the Bolsa Grande High School gymnasium, 9401 Westminster Ave., Garden Grove.  At this free event, attendees will have the opportunity to meet with a variety of business and industry professionals about their careers and learn about Career and Technical Education (CTE) programs at GGUSD through student presentations and interactive activities.
