Visual Art Exploration for TK/K Classrooms
 

Content Objective:  

This workshop will give teachers instruction on introducing some of the basic elements and principles of art.  We will primarily be working with tempera cake/watercolor techniques, but will also be exploring other media that will foster creativity in the classroom.  (This is a repeat of the Super Week training)​

Exploring the Elements of Art – Color, Line and Space

 

Content Objective: We will be looking at artist Georgia O’Keefe’s techniques in using line, space and color to create a well-balanced composition. Having students see their surroundings from a different perspective will be a key topic. Each attendee will create a large detailed flower painting to use as an example in their classroom.

 

 

 

Synectic Trees

Content Objective: Using the process of design synectics, students will discover that different styles of art can be united in a composition. Participants will develop a pictorial composition of trees that symbolically or metaphorically stand for those in a physical world. This will be a hands-on workshop, exploring the use of oil pastels with a watercolor wash.

 

 

 

Tantalizing Tessellations - Art/Math Integration at its Best

Content Objective: Tessellations are designs that fill the page, without gaps or overlapping, to form a pattern that completely takes up the space.   M.C. Escher was a master at taking these math concepts and turning them into intriguing artwork. Participants will study these concepts and apply them to their own creative designs in this hands-on art workshop.
