Artwork from 18 GGUSD Students Will Be Displayed in South Korea

Twenty pieces of artwork from eighteen Garden Grove Unified School District (GGUSD) students in transitional kindergarten through twelfth grade was requested by the Sister City Association00 of Garden Grove to be displayed in its sister city, Anyang, Republic of South Korea for the summer.

“Our visual arts program is one of the strongest in the county and the talent that we have here at GGUSD is extraordinary,” said Dina Nguyen, Board of Education trustee. “Our students feel honored that their artwork will be viewed from folks on the other side of the globe.”

Students whose artwork will be displayed include: Vihn Nguyen, transitional kindergartner at Garden Park Elementary; first graders Fred Forbes and Jaden Powers from Stanley Elementary; third grader Lily Loung of Post Elementary; seventh grader Daniel Tran and eighth graders Yu-han Chien and Quinn Phan of Alamitos Intermediate; eight graders Tiffany Moua and Rosalyn Pham of Fitz Intermediate; Britney Pham, seventh grader at McGarvin Intermediate; eighth grader Andrew Angulo of Ralston Intermediate; tenth grader Tiffany Le of La Quinta High; tenth grader Kaila Yanagisawa and eleventh grader Jose Barron of Los Amigos High, and Skyler Pointer, eleventh grader at Pacifica High School.

Camille Tran, an eleventh grader at La Quinta High, will have three pieces of art on display and Santiago twelfth grade student Kayla Garnica will each have two pieces of artwork on display.

The proud art teachers who helped inspire and develop the talent of these GGUSD artists include Garden Park’s Jennifer Wu; Stanley’s Jennifer Hidalgo, Post’s Tina Ho; Rob Whyman of Alamitos Intermediate; Kelly Sneddon of Fitz Intermediate; McGarvin’s Britney Bixby; Annie Ta of La Quinta High School; Kevin Ferguson of Los Amigos High School; Sheila Colcord of Pacifica High School; and Will Okura of Santiago High School.
