What is BTSA Induction?

The California Beginning Teacher Support and Assessment (BTSA) program pairs beginning teachers with Teachers on Special Assignment (TOSA) as support providers. The program provides individual support and advanced content for newly-credentialed beginning teachers. BTSA programs are locally designed and implemented in accordance with the California Standards for the Teaching Profession. The standards are organized around six interrelated categories of teaching practice. The six standards are:

• Creating and Maintaining Effective Environments for Student Learning
• Understanding and Organizing Subject Matter for Student Learning
• Planning Instruction and Designing Learning Experiences for All Students
• Assessing Student Learning
• Developing as a Professional Educator
