Dear Evans Families:

Welcome all new and returning students and families back to Evans!  Evan’s PTA would like to invite all of our Evans parents to become involved and participate in this school year's up and coming PTA sponsored events.

WHAT IS THE PTA AND WHY IS IT IMPORTANT?

Evans Elementary PTA is a group of parents who make decisions about the events and activities we will have at our school, such as Carnival, Movie Night, Skate Night, and much much more.  PTA pays for educational activities like Art Masters, Imagination Machine, and fieldtrips.  PTA also decides what kind of fundraisers we will  have during the school year to pay for the activities and events that we sponsor.

WHAT DOES PTA HAVE PLANNED FOR THIS SCHOOL YEAR?

We currently have our first PTA fundraiser planned for October 21st.  PTA would like to encourage your to attend and give a helping hand at this event to ensure its success!  Again, these fundraising events are important to our school, because all money raised will go straight to the benefit of our students.  Just to give you an idea of what PTA has planned for this year, in October we have the Walk-a-Thon.  In November PTA will be collecting canned goods and other non-perishable foods to make up baskets for local families.  In December we will be doing our Annual Christams Store for our students so they can buy goodies for their family and friends.  In the later part of the year, PTA will have our annual Mother's Day plant sales, and we will be ending the school year with our Scholastic Book Fair.  PTA will also be bringing back educational activities such as Art Masters and Imagination Machine.  And with all that said, these are just a few of the activities and events PTA has planned for this school year.

SO YOU ASK "WHAT CAN I DO?"

With all of these activities and events that we have planned for this school year, PTA is in need of parents willing to donate some of their time to help make sure that these events and activities turn out to be a success.  We are currently looking for parents to help in the following areas:

  • Parents looking to join the PTA.  We meet every 2nd Tuesday of the month.  This is a monthly meeting that is held here at Evans Elementary at 3:00 p.m.  (Go to the school office, and they will direct you to our meeting room.)
  • Ice Cream sales on Fridays from 2:25 - 3:00 p.m.
  • Carnival (Spring)
  • Red Ribbon Week (October)
  • Art Masters (Different times throughout the year)
  • Holiday Food Drive (November)
  • Holiday Store (December)
  • Mother's Day Plant Sale (May)
  • Scholastic Book Fair (End of the year)

PTA is currently in need of parents to join the PTA and start learning all aspects of what the PTA does at Evans Elementary.  For many of us parents this is our last or soon to be last year on the PTA board.  If we do not have anyone interested in joining after this year, we may not have a PTA board next year.  This would mean not having all of the activities and events that we are so lucky to currently have here at our school.  Again, our meetings are the 2nd Tuesday of every month at 3p.m.  Ask in the school office, and they will direct you to the PTA meeting room.  Parents, please keep in mind that children are always welcome at the PTA meetings and events.  Please don't let it hold you back because you have a little one at home.  We love children and appreciate all the help that we can get!

Thank you for your time, and I hope to see you at our next PTA meeting!

Sincerely,

Stephanie Collins

Evans PTA President
