SWINE INFLUENZA (FLU) INFORMATION

 

 

Due to the recent attention related to the swine influenza and questions and concerns pertaining to the illness, the following information is provided to answer questions that you may have regarding the swine flu. At this point, no cases of the swine flu have been confirmed in Orange County.

 

The symptoms of swine flu in people are similar to the symptoms of regular human flu and include fever (100° or higher), cough, sore throat, body aches, headache, chills, and fatigue. Some people have reported diarrhea and vomiting associated with swine flu.

 

There are everyday actions that may help prevent the spread of germs that cause respiratory illnesses like influenza. Take these everyday steps to protect your health:

 

        Throw the tissue in the trash after    you use it.

 

 

It is very important that your child continues to attend school unless he/she has a fever of 100°or higher, or exhibits other symptoms indicative of the flu. In an effort to keep the flu from spreading to more people, we ask that you keep your child home from school if he/she has the flu. A child who is sent to school with flu-like symptoms may be sent home.
