On January 11, 2011, the 5th grade students went to the MPR to dissect pig hearts. Thestudents were put into groups of three or four and each group had one huge pig heart. A demonstrator from the Discovery Science Center came to be their dissection guide. She guided them through the parts and processes of the heart. Throughout the discussions, our guide walked them through the dissection process step-by-step. Early into her presentation, scissors were used to cut into the heart so the 5th graders could see into each of the heart chambers. The heart was amazing and dissecting it gave the 5th graders a better understanding of the functions of the heart. All of the 5th graders had a great time and want to thank our amazing PTA for providing this memorable learning experience.
This and many of our extracurricular activities are paid for by Garden Park's PTA. Your generous support provides these extra curricular experiences for our students. Thank you Garden Park PTA!!
