On the evening of March 10th, Garden Park Elementary School held their annual Family Reading Night. Parents, students, siblings, and teachers arrived around 06:30 pm to enjoy an evening of reading, exchanging books, cookies, relaxation, and winning literature based prizes. We had over 50 familys attend Family Reading Night. Families and their guests came in their fovorite evening attire, brought their blankets to mark their reading spots, and curled up with family to enjoy great books together. Several teachers attended and shared their favorite books. Using our ELMO, teachers were able to projet the book they were reading onto the screen for all see and read along. Every student who attended this magical night left with the gift of a new book or Dr. Seuss themed stuffed animal.
In addtion to our Family Reading Night, we held our first Book Exchange. Over 400 books were turned in for this exciting book exchange event. This event was made possible due to the countless volunteer hours of our wonderful Garden Park parents. The students were thrilled to shop for "new" books to help them continue their quest to meet their reading goals. Students were able to shop during our Family Reading Night event.
Family activities like Family Literature Night has been made possible because of our PTA's monetary generousity and firm belief in the importance of reading. Reading is the one key that will open the many doors our children will face in the future. Thank you Garden Park PTA! |
