On the evening of April 14th, Garden Park Elementary School held their annual Family Reading Night. Parents, students, siblings, and teachers arrived around 06:30 pm to enjoy an evening of reading, exchanging books, cookies, relaxation, and winning literature based prizes.  We had over 34 familys attend Family Reading Night.  Families and their guests came in their fovorite pajama attire, brought their blankets to mark their reading spots, and curled up with family to enjoy great books together.  Several teachers attended and shared their favorite books.  Using our ELMO, teachers were able to project the book they were reading onto the screen for all see and read along.  Every student who attended this magical night left with a pleasant memory.

In addtion to our Family Reading Night, we held our second Book Exchange.  Over 561 books were turned in for this fabulous book exchange event. This event was made possible due to the countless volunteer hours of our wonderful Garden Park parents and Mrs. Balius.  The students were thrilled to shop for "new" books to help them continue their quest to meet their trimester reading goals.  Students were able to shop during our Family Reading Night event as well as the following day at school.

Family activities like Family Literature Night has been made possible because of our PTA's monetary generousity and firm belief in the importance of reading.  Reading is the one key that will open the many doors our children will face in the future.  Thank you Garden Park PTA!
