ACADEMIC PROGRESS
STANDARDS AND EXPECTATIONS
Students in grades 7 and 8 shall earn and maintain a minimum 2.0 GPA. Students who fall below a 2.0 GPA will not be allowed to participate in school activities (i.e. after school sports, etc.). Students who have earned N’s and U’s will not be able to attend ASB sponsored school activities (i.e. dances, etc.). Students in this category may be required to attend tutoring and/or detention until the student has raised his/her GPA to a 2.0.
Eighth grade students with a cumulative GPA below 1.0 (D) will not be allowed to participate in the Commencement Ceremony.
PROGRESS REPORTS
Progress reports are given to some students four weeks into each quarter. Progress reports are sent via mail. This is a “warning” to you and your parents of low grades, incomplete homework, and/or unsatisfactory citizenship or work habits. This “warning” gives you enough time to improve your grades before the end of the quarter. Additional progress reports may be sent home by your teachers at any time.
REPORT CARDS
The school year is divided into four quarters. Grades will be given each quarter. Each quarter is a new beginning, an opportunity to start over. Each quarter, you will be evaluated on ACHIEVEMENT, CITIZENSHIP, and WORK HABITS. Students will hand carry report cards home for the first, second, and third quarters. June report cards will be sent home by mail.
