Student & Parent Responsibilities
CHANGE OF ADDRESS
If you move or change your telephone number, notify the office immediately. It is important that parents can be reached in an emergency.
WITHDRAWL OR TRANSFER
Any student checking out of school should report to the office with a note from home, stating where he/she will be attending. A clearance form must be signed by all of your teachers and the librarian, and returned to the office prior to leaving. You are required to return all textbooks and library books before leaving.
STUDENT IDENTIFICATION CARD
At the beginning of the school year you were given a photo ID card. This card is needed to enter school dances, participate in school fundraisers, and to purchase/pick-up your yearbook. If you lose your I.D. card, you will be required to purchase another one for $5. You MUST have your I.D. card with you at all times on campus.
CHANGE OF CLASS SCHEDULE
During the school year, you may have a change of schedule where one or more of your classes are changed. If this happens:
IRVINE’S COMPUTER USE POLICY
At Irvine Intermediate School you will have access to a high-speed Internet connection. When you use the computers at Irvine, you have a responsibility to use them correctly. This means they should not be used to access or create materials that do not belong at school. This includes, but is not limited to, images and messages that are sexually explicit, violent, or seek to demean or harass others. Failure to follow the rules may result in loss of access to school computers. Only those students have turned in an Internet Access Parent/Guardian Permission form will be allowed to access the Internet.
IEP CONFERENCES
Parents/guardians should give at least 24 hours notice if they intend to cancel a scheduled IEP conference, especially if an interpreter is required. Please make IEP conferences a priority due to the amount of time and effort spent by the teachers and staff in preparing for these important meetings.
USE OF SCHOOL TELEPHONES
Students are not permitted to use the school telephones unless it is an emergency. Arrangements for transportation home or to other locations must be made prior to your coming to school. Students may bring cell phones to school, but may not use them while on school grounds. Phones are to remain turned off and in students’ backpacks if brought to school. The school cannot be responsible for retrieving phones or electronic devices if they are lost or stolen.
DROP-OFF AND PICK-UP POLICY
Students should be dropped off and picked up in the Ward Street parking lot. At no time should you pick up or drop off your child across the street from school. Please do not block other cars when picking up your child.
MEDICATION AT SCHOOL
You are not allowed to take or have any type of medication at school unless we have an Administration of Medication Form on file in the front office signed by both your parent and doctor. Only medication involving special or serious problems will be administered during school hours. All medication must remain in the Nurse’s Office and will be administered by office personnel.
