Welcome to second semester at Lincoln! Economics:We will be exploring how issues in government and economics affect our daily lives. We will also explore the internet and its place in economic forecasting. Along with our textbook, thinking maps, news critiques, and primary and secondary source readings, I am also scheduling a variety of speakers as well as participating in the Junior Achievement Program. U.S. HISTORY : Through the use of primary sources, videos and technology as well as a variety of graphic organizers and Thinking Maps we will be able to read and discuss events as they happened ( & are still happening) & see modern similarities & differences as we compare them to the themes of U.S. history. We will be doing a variety of special projects. WORLD HISTORY: We will examine major events in the shaping of the modern world. Through the use of newspapers, periodicals and other media, we will be able to read and discuss world events as they are happening and see similarities and differences as we compare them to the major themes of world history. We will also be incorporating Interactive Notebooks into the curriculum. A big focus is the importance of geography in understanding world events. ART HISTORY/APPRECIATION: We will be focusing mostly on Western art, but making important connections to non-Western art and art's contributions to world history as well. We will be evaluating art, taking virtual museum tours and exploring various examples of art media. I have also planned a variety of hands-on activities to enhance our study of art! The semester promises to be an exceptional one! |
