Leviathan by Scott Westerfeld

Starred Review. Grade 7 Up—This is World War I as never seen before. The story begins the same: on June 28, 1914, Archduke Franz Ferdinand and his wife are assassinated, triggering a sequence of alliances that plunges the world into war. But that is where the similarity ends. This global conflict is between the Clankers, who put their faith in machines, and the Darwinists, whose technology is based on the development of new species.

Journalism:  Our goals for the last few weeks of the school year are to sell and distribute the yearbook and to complete the last issue of the newspaper.  You will need to be persistent in order to gather all your information since everyone is feeling a bit lax as the end approaches.  Let’s create our best issue yet!
