     No PE shoes.  No unnatural hair color.  Undergarments should not be visible.  The administration reserves the right to make the final decision regarding the appropriateness of dress. 

      Commencement for 8th graders will be held Wednesday, June 22 at 10:45 at McGarvin.  Students should arrive at 10:15.  Guests will sit in the quad in front of the office.  As always, this is a special day for our students and we expect all in attendance to honor them with respectful behavior.

From the Guidance Office

 

that you can do to help your child and show them that you care about what they are learning in school.  Make sure you always look over the homework with your student.  They can explain to you what they have done on the assignment and this shows you that they understand and shows them that you care enough to involve yourself with their homework.  Also, check their agenda book and make sure that they are writing down their assignments.  Ask them to show you each assignment they have written down even if it is finished.  This allows you to check and make sure that they have actually finished all of their assignments.  Most of all, stay positive with your child and give them praise as often as possible.  If ever there is a concern please feel free to call me at the school.

Special recognition goes to the History students of the month who continually set high standards for themselves and their peers in both History classes.  Congratulations to:

7th grade students of the month: Jeremy Greer (September/October); Andrew Hua(November/December); Tracy Truong(January/February); and Krysten Young (March/April).

8th grade students of the month included Nancy Le (September/October); Trong Nguyen (November/December); Nhat Tong (January/February); and Jamie Tran (March/April).

 

Finally, I want to welcome (yes, even though itıs May) Ms. Lopez to the McGarvin History Department.  In addition, congratulations on the birth of her baby boy, Frank.  We also welcome her very capable substitute, Mr. Art Lua, who recently completed his credential from CSUF (GO TITANS!).  Finally, a warm welcome to Mr. Doug Weller who nabbed one section of 7th grade World History at the semester in order to lower the history class sizes, much to everyoneıs benefit!  Returning to the History department are Mr. Mark Foster and myself. From all of us, a successful end of year, and enjoy your summer!

Pentathlon News

 
On March 12th, 18 McGarvin Students competed in Orange Countyıs Academic Pentathlon Competition.  After months of preparing, our students came out high above the competition.  The 7th grade team received 2nd place in the Super Quiz exam and they also received 4th place Overall.   The 8th grade team received 6th place in the Super Quiz
