Measure ASummary of Proposed ProjectsThe 69 schools in the Garden Grove Unified School District range in age from 37 to 89 years old. Garden Grove High School opened in 1921 and moved to its present location in 1923. The district’s newest campus, Northcutt Elementary School, opened in 1973. By the end of the current school year, more than half of GGUSD schools will be in excess of 50 years old, thus lacking many of the amenities of recently constructed schools. The functional life expectancy of school facilities with good maintenance is 50 years. In consultation with industry experts, the district conducted a comprehensive draft needs assessment to identify and prioritize the revitalization and modernization projects to be funded subject to voter approval of Measure A.
