Preschool Program

Garden Grove School District Special Education Preschool Early Childhood Education Center (ECEC)

The GGUSD Special Education Preschool provides a continuum of quality early intervention programs and services designed to meet the unique educational needs of children through individualized education programming (IEP). Our programs offer intensive language-based learning environments to help support academic success and prepare students of all abilities for Kindergarten. All students will receive instruction at their ability level through the implementation of state adopted curriculum and in alignment with the Preschool Learning Foundations.

Our classes are taught by highly qualified credentialed teachers and are supported by well-trained instructional aides and related service providers who help meet the unique educational needs of our students as determined through the IEP process. Speech & Language Pathologists, Psychologists, Nurses, Occupational Therapists, Physical Therapists, and/or Behavior Specialists may support the classroom by providing services within (“push-in”) the classroom or in a separate (“pull-out”) classroom.

When considering a program placement for our preschool students, we consider the Least Restrictive Environment (LRE) and how to best support the students’ educational needs. The LRE is determined appropriate when the student is making progress toward goals and objectives, and is able to meaningfully benefit from the educational setting.

We recognize and respect that each child brings to school a desire to learn, unique rate of development, and diverse cultural and language experiences. We are committed to promoting each child’s cognitive, physical, and social-emotional well-being.
