Garden Grove Unified School District students from Santiago High School’s marching band have been selected to perform in the 2018 Tournament of Roses Honor Band and will march in the 2018 Rose Parade in Pasadena on New Year’s Day. Antonio Gonzalez, Vincent Rodriguez, and Phuong Vo, were among 600 students vying for coveted spots in the prestigious band.

“This is one of the highest honors a marching band student can earn and we are so proud of our talented Cavaliers,” said Walter Muneton, GGUSD Board of Education trustee.  “These students will be terrific representatives of our district to the millions of people watching the parade.”

GGUSD’s Visual and Performing Arts (VAPA) program has a longstanding reputation of excellence.  At intermediate and high school, GGUSD’s student enrollment in the arts is 43 percent, beating the state average of 38 percent.  The district’s annual Showcase of Bands, which features marching band performances from each of the district’s seven comprehensive high schools, will be held on November 15 at 6:00 p.m. at Bolsa Grande High School Stadium.
