GGUSD Invites Applicants for Bond Oversight Committee

The Garden Grove Unified School District is seeking qualified volunteers to serve on the independent Bond Oversight Committee (BOC) for the implementation of the district’s school modernization bonds. The Committee will provide oversight for both Measure A, the $250 million bond measure approved by GGUSD voters in 2010 and Measure P, the $311 million bond measure approved by GGUSD voters in November 2016.

Pre-Enrollment for Full-Day Transitional Kindergarten and Full-Day Kindergarten Begins February 22

Pre-enrollment for Fall 2017/18 full-day transitional kindergarten and full-day kindergarten classes in the Garden Grove Unified School District begins Wednesday, February 22. Parents should pre-enroll online as early as possible at and contact their child’s home school for further assistance. All GGUSD elementary school offices will be closed throughout the summer and will resume enrollment when the offices reopen in the fall.

Pacifica High School Student Delivers Winning Speech in Washington D.C.

Pacifica High School senior Megan McCall’s inspiring speech, which encourages students to self-advocate for academic financial aid, was selected among the winning speeches as part of the American Soapbox Initiative. She was selected to represent Orange County at the Mikva Youth Summit in Washington, D.C. along with other soapbox speech winners from across the country.

Garden Grove Unified School District’s Doig Intermediate School and Santiago High School were officially re-validated as AVID (Advanced Via Individual Determination) National Demonstration Schools last week. Only 125 schools across the nation and a select few in Orange County earn the prestigious designation which signifies exemplary school-wide implementation of AVID’s proven college readiness systems and strategies.
