GGUSD Adds School Resource Officer for Santa Ana Schools

Corporal Pacheco

This week, Garden Grove Unified School District (GGUSD) welcomed Santa Ana Police Officer Corporal Anthony Pacheco as the newest member of the district’s School Resource Officer (SRO) team.  Corporal Pacheco is dedicated to serving all six GGUSD schools located in the City of Santa Ana including Fitz Intermediate Language Academy as well as Hazard, Heritage, Newhope, Rosita and Russell elementary schools.

Corporal Pacheco joins the district’s SRO team which currently consists of one sergeant and six specially-selected and trained fulltime sworn officers and three support dogs from the Garden Grove Police Department as well as one officer from the Westminster Police Department. While the majority of GGUSD schools are located in Garden Grove, the district also has four schools in Fountain Valley, six schools in Westminster, six schools in Santa Ana and one school in Stanton.

“Our district’s highest priority is ensuring students and staff are safe at school,” said Board of Education President Teri Rocco. “Our School Resource Officers are part of our school communities and they do a phenomenal job increasing school security and addressing safety concerns that address. We are grateful for the partnership with the Santa Ana Police Department and proud to have Corporal Pacheco serving our Santa Ana schools.”

Corporal Pacheco has 12 years of experience as a sworn law enforcement officer beginning his career in Hayward California and then joining the Santa Ana Police Department in 2015. His experience includes being a field training officer, child abuse detective and patrol officer. He is an Explorer Advisor and PAAL volunteer and has a proven record of supporting youth within the Santa Ana community. Corporal Pacheco earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice as well as his Master’s Degree in Leadership.
