The Garden Grove Unified School District (GGUSD) Board of Education held a special ribbon cutting ceremony yesterday for the reopening of the renovated Donald R. Wash Memorial Auditorium located on the campus of Garden Grove High School.  The Board of Education was joined by elected officials, community leaders, and district employees.

Tours of the modernized auditorium were provided by Garden Grove High School student leaders.  Renovations include interior and exterior ADA accessible ramps, accessible restrooms, and accessible auditorium seating; air-conditioning; a new grand entrance with exterior lighting and landscaping; and new ticket booths in the lobby.

“The renovated Don Wash auditorium is a game-changer for our district as it holds most of our large events and performances,” said Lan Nguyen, Board of Education president.  “GGUSD students and the community will enjoy the beautifully redesigned auditorium for generations to come.”

The auditorium serves as the home to districtwide events that range from theatrical plays, dance shows, band and choral performances, award ceremonies, and much more.  It is also rented out for community use.  The renovations were primarily funded by Measure A, the district’s first bond measure approved by voters in 2010, as well as state modernization funds.
