Weekly Reopening Update – October 30, 2020
Dear Parents,
This week, thousands of GGUSD students returned to school for hybrid instruction as we successfully reopened 13 of our nearly 70 campuses. We are beyond grateful to our staff, students, and families who all worked together to ensure health and safety protocols were followed.
Teachers and staff did an amazing job helping students feel welcome, supported, and safe. Families were fantastic at following new drop-off and pick-up procedures and using the daily health screening form. GGUSD students showed excitement to be back at school and were happy to participate in daily temperature checks and frequent hand washing and hand sanitizing. It took no time at all for students to learn their new routine as campus stickers and signage reminded students and staff to remain physically distant, wear a mask, and wash their hands.
We are committed to ensuring our stakeholders are well informed about our many procedures designed to limit the spread of COVID-19 in our schools, as well as those procedures for responding to COVID-19 on our campuses, including:
What will happen if my child(ren) develops COVID-19 symptoms while at school?
Each campus has a CARE Room for students who develop COVID-19-related symptoms while at school. If a student is sent to the school’s CARE Room, parents/guardians will be called to pick up the child as soon as possible. Any child who visits the CARE Room will be sent home with an illness form including recommended next steps, a physician’s visit form, and a Symptom Decision Tree. This document was developed by the Orange County Health Care Agency, UCI and CHOC to help schools in responding to illness on campus. The document also helps families determine if a child should be seen by their health care provider, tested for COVID-19, and when the child is cleared to return to school.
When and how will I be notified if someone at my child’s school tests positive for COVID-19?
In the event of a confirmed case, the principal will send a ParentSquare message to 1) all staff and parents of students who have been identified as close contacts; 2) a low exposure notification to students/staff in the classroom who are not close contacts; and 3) a message to the entire school community. Close contact is considered being within 6 feet of an individual with COVID-19 for 15 minutes or more cumulative within 24 hours. The district will report all confirmed cases of COVID-19 to the Orange County Health Care Agency for consultation and an exposure investigation. The district will only communicate and provide data for confirmed COVID-19 cases.
How does contact tracing work?
The Orange County Health Care Agency has provided schools with protocols to follow to identify close contacts – anyone who has come within 6 feet of an individual who has tested positive for COVID-19 for 15 minutes or more cumulative within 24 hours. The school principal collects a list of close contacts from the individual who tested positive, sends the close contacts home for a 14-day quarantine and reports the information to the Orange County Health Care Agency (OCHCA) for a close contact exposure investigation. OCHCA’s medical team follows up with the school and the individual who tested positive to assist with contact tracing to ensure that all close contacts were excluded from school.
Will the school tell me who has COVID-19 at the school?
No, privacy laws require schools to maintain the confidentiality of individuals who have symptoms or test positive for COVID-19.
Will the district notify the community each time there is a confirmed case of COVID-19?
On Monday, November 2nd, GGUSD will launch a COVID-19 Dashboard which will include the district’s confirmed COVID-19 case counts by school for the previous 14 days. A positive case will be reported on the Dashboard after it is verified by the district. The Dashboard can be found Monday evening at https://ggusd.us/covid-19dashboard
As we prepare to reopen Tier 2 Schools on November 12th and Tier 3 Schools on December 1st, the district will discontinue its weekly Reopening Update which has been sent via ParentSquare every Friday since March. We will continue to send regular reopening reminders and tips about health and safety, and will send updates as needed.

Esta semana, miles de alumnos del GGUSD regresaron a la escuela para la instrucción con un modelo híbrido, mientras reabrimos exitosamente 13 de nuestros casi 70 planteles escolares. Estamos más que agradecidos con nuestro personal, alumnos y familias quienes trabajaron juntos para asegurar que los protocolos de la salud y seguridad se siguieran.
Los maestros y el personal hicieron un trabajo increíble al ayudar a que los alumnos se sintieran bienvenidos, apoyados y seguros. Las familias hicieron un maravilloso trabajo al seguir los nuevos protocolos para dejar y recoger a los alumnos y usar el formulario para la evaluación de salud diaria. Los alumnos del GGUSD demostraron entusiasmo por estar nuevamente en la escuela y estaban dispuestos a participar en la toma de temperatura diaria y lavarse y desinfectarse las manos frecuentemente. Los alumnos aprendieron rápidamente su nueva rutina ya que las calcomanías y los letreros del plantel escolar les recordaban a los alumnos y al personal mantenerse distanciados físicamente, usar una mascarilla y lavarse las manos.

¿Qué pasará si mi(s) hijo(s) desarrolla(n) síntomas de COVID-19 mientras está(n) en la escuela?
Cada plantel escolar tiene un Salón CARE para los alumnos que desarrollen síntomas relacionados al COVID-19 mientras estén en la escuela. Si se envía a un alumno al Salón CARE, se llamará a los padres o tutores para que recojan a su hijo lo más pronto posible. Este documento fue desarrollado por la Agencia para el Cuidado de la Salud del Condado de Orange, UCI y CHOC para ayudar a las escuelas a responder a las enfermedades en el plantel escolar. El documento también ayuda a las familias a determinar si su hijo debería ser visto por su proveedor del cuidado de la salud, hacerse la prueba del COVID-19 y cuándo el niño tiene la autorización para regresar a la escuela.
¿Cuándo y cómo me notificarán si alguien en la escuela de mi hijo sale positivo en la prueba del COVID-19?
En caso de que haya un caso confirmado, el director enviará un mensaje por ParentSquare a: 1) todo el personal escolar y a los padres de los alumnos que hayan sido identificados como contactos cercanos; 2) una notificación de exposición de nivel bajo a los alumnos y personal del salón de clases que no tuvieron contacto cercano; y 3) un mensaje a toda la comunidad escolar. Se considera contacto cercano el estar a menos de 6 pies de distancia de una persona con COVID-19 por 15 minutos cumulativos o más dentro de un periodo de 24 horas. El Distrito reportará todos los casos confirmados de COVID-19 a la Agencia para el Cuidado de la Salud del Condado de Orange para consultar y que empiece una investigación de la exposición. ¿Notificará el personal del Distrito a la comunidad cada vez que haya un caso confirmado de COVID-19?
El lunes, 2 de noviembre, el GGUSD lanzará una Tablero de Datos de COVID-19, el cual incluirá el número de los casos confirmados de COVID-19 del Distrito por escuela de los últimos 14 días. Un caso positivo se reportará en el Tablero de Datos después que sea verificado por el Distrito. El Tablero de Datos aparecerá el lunes en la tarde en https://ggusd.us/covid-19dashboard.
Mientras nos preparamos para reabrir las escuelas del Nivel Dos el 12 de noviembre, y las escuelas del Nivel Tres el 1.o de diciembre, el Distrito discontinuará la circular de las Noticias más Recientes de la Reapertura de las Escuelas que se ha estado enviando por ParentSquare todos los viernes desde marzo. Seguiremos enviando regularmente recordatorios de la reapertura y consejos sobre la salud y la seguridad y enviaremos las noticias más recientes según sea necesario.

Trong tuần này, hàng ngàn học sinh GGUSD đã trở lại trường để học theo cách kết hợp khi chúng ta mở lại thành công 13 trường trong gần 70 trường thuộc học khu. Chúng tôi rất cảm kích các nhân viên, học sinh, và gia đình đã cùng hợp tác để bảo đảm việc thực hiện các quy định về sức khoẻ và giữ an toàn.
Các giáo viên và nhân viên đã rất xuất sắc trong việc chào mừng, hỗ trợ, và giữ học sinh an toàn. Các gia đình đã thực thi đúng các thể thức mới đặt ra về việc đưa đón con em và sử dụng mẫu kiểm tra sức khoẻ hàng ngày. Học sinh GGUSD bày tỏ sự vui mừng được trở lại trường và tham gia vào việc kiểm tra thân nhiệt, thường xuyên rửa tay và khử trùng tay. Chẳng mấy chốc các em đã quen với nếp sinh hoạt mới nhờ các bảng hiệu và giấy dán trong khuôn viên trường nhắc nhở học sinh và nhân viên giữ khoảng cách an toàn, đeo khẩu trang, và rửa tay.
Chúng tôi quyết tâm trong việc thông báo đến các thành viên về những quy định của học khu nhằm hạn chế COVID-19 lây lan trong trường, cũng như cách thức ứng phó với COVID-19, gồm có:
Nhà trường sẽ làm gì khi con tôi có triệu chứng COVID-19 tại trường?
Mỗi trường đều có Phòng CARE (Đánh Giá và Ứng Phó) dành cho học sinh có những triệu chứng COVID-19 khi đang ở trường. Nếu một học sinh được gửi lên phòng CARE, nhà trường sẽ liên lạc với phụ huynh/người giám hộ để đến đón con em về ngay. Học sinh đến phòng CARE sẽ được phát mẫu hướng dẫn các bước kế tiếp nên thực hiện, giấy khám bác sĩ, và Sơ Đồ về Triệu Chứng và Cách Nhận Biết (Symptom Decision Tree). Tài liệu này do Sở Y Tế Hạt Orange, Bệnh Viện UCI và CHOC soạn thảo để giúp các trường ứng phó với bệnh trạng xảy ra tại trường. Tài liệu này cũng giúp các gia đình biết khi nào cần đưa con đi khám bác sĩ, xét nghiệm COVID-19, và khi nào em có thể trở lại trường.
Nếu có người xét nghiệm dương tính COVID-19 tại trường của con tôi, khi nào nhà trường sẽ thông báo cho tôi biết, và bằng cách nào?
Trong trường hợp ca nhiễm đã được xác nhận, hiệu trưởng sẽ gửi thông báo qua ParentSquare đến 1) tất cả nhân viên và phụ huynh có con em đã tiếp cận với người bệnh; 2) học sinh/nhân viên trong lớp học ít tiếp cận với người bệnh; 3) toàn trường. Tiếp cận được xác định là trong vòng 24 tiếng đã tiếp xúc với người bệnh COVID-19 trong khoảng 6 feet và trong thời gian tổng cộng là 15 phút hay lâuơn trong 24 tiếng. Học khu sẽ báo cáo mọi trường hợp đã được xác định là nhiễm bệnh COVID-19 lên Sở Y Tế Hạt Orange để hội ý và dò tìm những trường hợp đã tiếp cận với người có COVID-19. Học khu chỉ thông báo và cung cấp các dữ kiện về những trường hợp đã được xác định là nhiễm COVID-19.
Làm thế nào để dò tìm những trường hợp đã tiếp cận với người nhiễm COVID-19?
Sở Y Tế Hạt Orange đã cho trường học biết các thể thức cần làm để dò tìm những người đã tiếp cận với người nhiễm COVID-19 --bất kỳ ai trong vòng 24 tiếng đã tiếp xúc với người bệnh COVID-19 trong khoảng cách 6 feet trong thời gian tổng cộng là 15 phút hay lâu hơn trong 24 tiếng. Học Khu có thông báo cho cộng đồng mỗi lần có trường hợp nhiễm bệnh COVID-19 không?
Vào thứ hai, ngày 2 tháng 11, GGUSD sẽ yết thị trên Bảng Thông Cáo COVID-19 (COVID-19 Dashboard) cho biết tổng số ca nhiễm COVID-19 tại các trường thuộc học khu trong 14 ngày vừa qua. Sau khi đã kiểm chứng, học khu sẽ đưa thông tin lên trên Bảng Thông Cáo. Vào chiều thứ hai Bảng Thông Cáo sẽ được đăng trên trang mạng: https://ggusd.us/covid-19dashboard
Khi chúng tôi chuẩn bị để mở lại các trường thuộc Giai Đoạn 2 vào ngày 12 tháng 11 và Giai Đoạn 3 vào ngày 1 tháng 12, học khu sẽ ngừng việc Cập Nhật Hàng Tuần Về Việc Mở Trường Lại qua ParentSquare mà quý vị thường nhận vào mỗi thứ sáu từ tháng 3 đến nay.
