Garden Grove Unified School District (GGUSD) high schools are celebrating their college-bound seniors this month with festive College Signing Day events.

College Signing Day events are an annual tradition in GGUSD, celebrated around May 1 in alignment with the May 1 California State and University of California college commitment deadlines.

“Getting into college is an exciting milestone for many high school seniors and we want our students to know that we recognize and celebrate all of the hard work they invested to achieve their goals,” said Lan Nguyen, Board of Education Vice President.

Garden Grove Unified School District is a leader in college readiness with 57.7% of GGUSD’s Class of 2021 meeting rigorous college entrance requirements qualifying students to attend UC or CSU schools, compared to 56.9% in Orange County and 52.1% across the state.

For the fifth year in a row, all seven of GGUSD’s comprehensive high schools were named to U.S. News and World Report’s elite rankings of America’s Best High Schools.

GGUSD students graduate high school prepared for the future. In 2021, GGUSD had an impressive 3,437 students take at least on Advanced Placement course and students took 6,673 Advanced Placement exams. Additionally, with a high success rate in dual enrollment courses, many GGUSD students graduate high school with a number of college credits already earned.
