Celebrating Our Teachers

GGUSD loves our teachers and are grateful for their unwavering dedication to students! Our teachers dedicate their time and talent each day to equip students with the academic and personal skills for lifelong success.  GGUSD’s teachers play an important role in the success of our district that has led to numerous awards, including being named as the first California Exemplary District, having more California Distinguished Schools than any district in Orange County, and having all seven comprehensive high schools named to U.S. News and World Report’s elite rankings of America’s Best High Schools.  What makes our district special is that our teachers and staff treat students as if they were their own children – that’s the Garden Grove Way!

Each year, GGUSD nominates three teachers for the Orange County Department of Education’s Teacher of the Year Program. This year, we nominated Summer Fox from Riverdale Elementary School, Phuong Lam from Jordan Intermediate School and Kelli Colombo from Rancho Alamitos High School. Kelli was selected as a semi-finalist and will receive a special honor during the county’s special Teacher of the Year celebration at the Disneyland Resort in the fall.

In honor of national Teacher Appreciation Week, we created special teacher spotlight videos about our three Teacher of the Year nominees. Watch our videos here!
