At the direction of law enforcement and emergency response officials, 12 GGUSD campuses temporarily closed on the morning of Friday, May 22 and will remain closed through the last day of school on Wednesday, May 27 due to ongoing containment efforts related to an industrial chemical leak in the area. Emergency responders evacuated a one-mile radius surrounding the area of Chapman Avenue and Western Avenue (see map below) as crews continue working to safely contain the incident. The safety of our students, staff, and families remains our top priority. We will continue to remain in close communication with local authorities and will provide updates as additional information becomes available.
Thank you for your patience, understanding, and cooperation.
