GGUSD Celebrates 28 Schools for State Awards Honoring Excellence in PBIS

A total of 28 schools across the Garden Grove Unified School District (GGUSD) have been recognized by the California PBIS Coalition for their outstanding commitment to fostering supportive and positive learning environments. The 2024-2025 PBIS (Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports) Awards highlight schools that lead the way in California by effectively using PBIS strategies to encourage constructive student behavior and nurture a positive school culture.

GGUSD schools that received the Platinum Implementation Award include Bryant, Hazard, Heritage, Lawrence, Mitchell, Sunnyside, and Violette elementary schools and Bell, Doig, Lake, McGarvin, and Ralston intermediate schools. Schools that received the Gold Implementation Award include Cook, Excelsior, Paine, Peters K-3, Rosita, and Wakeham elementary schools and Fitz Intermediate Language Academy. Schools that received the Silver Implementation Award include Allen, Eisenhower, Garden Park, Northcutt, Parkview, and Post elementary schools and Irvine Intermediate School. Anthony and Murdy elementary schools received the Bronze Implementation Award.

“Our district is deeply committed to creating school environments where every student feels valued, supported, and safe, and PBIS plays a vital role in achieving that mission,” said Board of Education Trustee Walter Muneton. “It’s an honor to see our schools recognized as state leaders in building safe and welcoming communities that prioritize student well-being and belonging.”
