Alamitos Intermediate School Club Earns County Recognition

Alamitos Intermediate School’s Club Live was recognized with a Chapter Excellence Award at the Orange County Friday Night Live Partnership Chapter Recognition Event May 13 at the Orange County Department of Education.

Club Live helped students lead drug and alcohol prevention campaigns and provide opportunities for students to develop leadership skills. Alamitos Intermediate School began its Club Live chapter this school year with the help of school counselor Lisa Nguyen.

“We know that the student voice is the most powerful platform to influence other students into making healthy decisions,” said Board of Education Trustee Teri Rocco. “We’re very proud of Alamitos students for taking a stand about these important topics.”

Club Live is run by five student leaders and about 20 students participated in chapter meetings each week. In addition to Red Ribbon Week, students promoted awareness about substance abuse prevention at a variety of school events including concerts, mental health activities, and cultural celebrations.
