Bell Intermediate School Gets Visit and Donation from the Helpful Honda Guys

Bell Helpful Honda Visit

The Helpful Honda Guys made a visit to Bell Intermediate School on Tuesday, May 3, to surprise special education teacher Thuy Tran with $5,000 in classroom supplies, a new washer, dryer, oven range, and a refrigerator, to be used for instruction in her life skills class.

“It was amazing to witness and be a part of this act of kindness by the Helpful Honda Guys,” said GGUSD Board of Education Trustee Teri Rocco. “This donation is special because it will provide an extraordinary teacher with tools to teach exceptional students important life skills.”

A well-planned diversion was set up to surprise Ms. Tran, who is known as Ms. Thuy around campus. Students gathered in the quad and the dance team performed before the wonderful Helpful Honda Guy team emerged from hiding to unveil their donation.

Ms. Thuy was nominated by her coworker Christina Munger because she is a voice for her scholar students, teaches the whole student and learns what they need.

The refrigerator will hold the class cooking ingredients, the new washer and dryer will continue to teach daily cleaning and folding of clothes, and the new range will replace one of the older stoves that is used in cooking, mathematics and measurement. The new equipment will be used in interactive instruction of daily living skills, mathematics, measurement, and more.

The class also received a new set of headphones as well as new seating to help students with Autism.
