GGUSD Invites Community to Art in the Park

Garden Grove Unified School District (GGUSD) and the City of Garden Grove invite the community to attend their 5th Annual art festival, Art in the Park, on Saturday, March 18, from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at Village Green Park, 12732 Main Street, Garden Grove. The event coincides with the opening of GGUSD’s 45th annual First Impressions Art Show, which begins Saturday, March 18 through Thursday, March 23.

Art in the Park will showcase a 50-foot-long art installation of the word “RE:IMAGINE” designed by GGUSD students and 20 large  scale prints of student artwork on easels in the park, as well as live performances from GGUSD students including the Rock Band from Bryant Arts Academy at 11:15 a.m.; Bell Intermediate Choir at 12:00 p.m., and La Quinta High School Vocal Ensemble and Concert Choir at 12:30 p.m.  The interactive festival will also offer activities for all ages to enjoy including the Art Car, an opportunity to paint on a classic car transformed into a blank art canvas; Recess Revolution, an unstructured free-play area; LEGO® Creation Station; ceramics demos and ukulele lessons led by Garden Grove Unified School District teachers and students from Rancho Alamitos High School and La Quinta High School; and Paint and Sip, an outdoor painting experience with non-alcoholic and alcoholic beverages provided.

The popular First Impressions Art Show features artwork designed by GGUSD students in preschool through twelfth grade. Student artwork includes photography, digital art, paintings, sculpture, ceramics, and more. Student artwork will be judged and awarded on Saturday, March 18 during two presentations with the elementary presentation starting at 10 a.m., followed by intermediate and high school presentations at 11:15 a.m. The awards presentations take place at the Garden Grove Community Center, 11300 Stanford Avenue, Garden Grove.

The community is invited to view the artwork at The Courtyard on Village Green, 12372 Main Street, Garden Grove on Saturday, March 18  from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. The gallery will remain open from 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. Monday, March 20 through Thursday, March 23.
