GGUSD to Host 43rd Annual First Impressions Art Exhibit

Reimagine student artwork

Garden Grove Unified School District will host its 43rd annual First Impressions Student Art Exhibit in a virtual format. This year’s exhibit will feature 374 works of art from students in preschool through high school. The virtual exhibit will go live Monday, May 10 at 9 a.m. when it can be viewed at www.ggusd.us/departments/vapa.

The virtual event will feature opening remarks from Board of Education President Lan Nguyen, Garden Grove Mayor Steve Jones, GGUSD Superintendent Dr. Gabriela Mafi and Visual and Performing Arts Coordinator Stacy Harris.

“The fact that we’ve been holding the First Impressions Art Exhibit for 43 years is a testament to our district’s longstanding commitment to high quality art education,” said Lan Nguyen, Board of Education President.  “From photographs to paintings to ceramics, our students can do it all. We applaud our wonderful art teachers who help students develop and strengthen their artistic techniques and skills to express themselves through art.”

GGUSD is grateful for its partnership with the City of Garden Grove as the First Impressions Student Art Exhibit has been hosted at the Community and Courtyard Centers for many years. Two years ago, the district and city partnered for Art in the Park, a fun community-wide event that allowed the community to view and create art. This year’s adapted Art in the Park event will feature the work of GGUSD student artists which will be displayed throughout the Village Green Park for the entire community to enjoy.
